318: 318 - Amish Smalls By: Florence Evans

Class Description: Amish quilts are the original modern quilts, made in bold colors and from graphic geometric designs. In this class, students will work from their choice of five traditional Amish patterns (each with variations) while learning about Amish colors, patterns and quilting designs. Most students will be able to finish one small quilt top in class. With all the wonderful solid fabrics now available, it is time to finally make your own Amish quilt!

Class Supply List: Sewing machine; medium or dark neutral colored thread; rotary cutter and mat; large ruler (24 in long), square ruler (at least 12 ½ in square) and a small ruler (6 in x 12 in or similar); ½ to 1 yard of dark solid neutral background fabric (black, dark navy or charcoal grey); at least four fat quarters of solid fabrics in traditional Amish colors - red, burgundy, wine, purple, plum, blue, teal, turquoise, green; optional - for more variety, bring additional scraps and strips in other medium and dark solid colors.
