Quilters
in the Spotlight

Home
& Garden Quilt Show by Pam White
This year's Home & Garden
Quilt Show came to a close March 9th. Thanks to all of you that
volunteered your many hours of labor to the show. Also thanks to those
that put their quilts in the show. Without the volunteers and the loan
of all of your beautiful quilts the show would not have
taken place. We figured from counting all of the ballots that we had
well over a thousand people walk through the show. We had a lot of
good comments and the men and children seemed to enjoy the show just
as much as the women. We also had so many people want to buy the
quilts. One man said to me “Just name your price”.
Congratulations go out to the top
three winners of the show.
1st Place Helen Butler
2nd Place Cheryl Barlow
3rd Place Dianne Gardner
Everyone of you deserved a prize
because every quilt that was put in the show was beautiful and unique.
I told my husband this is one of those times that I wished that I was
rich and I would have awarded each and everyone of you a prize.
Coming up we have the Home Machine
Quilting Show taking place May 8th & 9th at the South
Town Expo Center. We will be having a booth and need some volunteers
to sit at the booth. There are lots of benefits of being a
volunteer at the Home Machine Quilting Show. You could make some new
friends that probably have the same interest as you, get into the show
free and promote your favorite hobby and lost art QUILTING just to
name a few.

Journal
Quilt Project by Kendra Hall
Our own Lisa Brothman has had a picture of a quilt published in the
Feb/March issue of Quilting Arts magazine, on p. 80. It
is a journal quilt that she had submitted to the 2007 Journal Quilt
Project, which was showcased at the 2007 Houston International Quilt
Festival. Lisa's quilt is entitled "Spiral Bound."
The picture appears in an article entitled, "A Page From My Book:
the 2007 Journal Quilt Project." and is one of nine that was
chosen to be published in the magazine.
All of the quilts from the 2007 Journal Quilt Project will be on display at
the International Quilt Festival in Chicago, April 11-13, 2008,
and the International Quilt festival in Long Beach (new this year) to
be held July 25-27, 2008.
Past years' journal quilts can be seen in the book, "Creative
Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project". This large book is
fascinating reading as it tells the stories behind the quilts. It is
available from quiltingarts.com/
Congratulations, Lisa!
