400 Turtle Trails - Annette Ornelas

All day Saturday 8:30am - 11:30am and 2:30pm-5:30pm


  Description:
  This quilt is designed for turtle lovers of all ages and features eleven sea-turtles swimming diagonally across the quilt.  There are 3    different turtle sizes.  Large (16” square), Medium (12” square) and Small (8” square).

Peeled Back Patchwork makes the turtles super fun to piece and gives the turtles a curvy dimensional look.  Learn how to make curves the easy way with dimensional curves:  Straight seam piecing with curved results.  

Dive into your stash and use different bright fabrics for the turtle shells to make them extra special.  In class we will start with the medium sized turtles which are 12” square finished.

 Turtle Trails Quilt:  74" x 62”.

(Iris and Poppies) With Helen, the students will work on calico, learning watercolor type techniques of “wet on wet” and “wet on dry” painting with dye, plus raw edge appliqué and Free Motion Machine Quilting.  During class Helen will supply paints to students and they are available for purchase after class.

403 FREE Community BASIC BEGINNING Sewing – FREE - Virginia Lee

Description:

In keeping with the Utah Quilt Guild motto: To promote, encourage and preserve the art of quilt making in Utah, we offer a FREE BASIC Introductory Beginners Class.  Come invite your friends to join this FREE introductory class and be introduced to the Wonderful World of Quilting.


This is a great opportunity to introduce your friend(s) to the "Wonderful World of Quilting".  It's for that friend that always says, "I wish I could do that". A free class for your friend or family. A chance to enjoy each other's company and just have a darn good time. An adult is required for children under 10 to be in attendance. Some very basic information will be shared to help understand the language of quilters, like fat quarter which is not part of your anatomy or a burger at McDonalds. All supplies are provided. We will have tools to try out, handouts, fabric and patterns. A machine is not required but an opportunity to sew on a few machines will be available (we can take turns). Please take advantage of this FREE opportunity.

Description: This is a fun Quilt class that teaches how to make two of the poinsettia blocks at the same time. The quilt comes in an option of 3 sizes with present blocks set around it or the smaller poinsettia size can be used as a centerpiece for the table.   Large Quilt is Quilt Size 86“ X 86“

  •          There is a package of squares that I sell in my shop that are very helpful for making the flowers and contains all the sizes needed for the different size options in the pattern. These are very useful for the method I use to teach the half square triangles

Other remarks: The table topper is such a fun Christmas addition.

Description: Come along in this adventure of learning curved piecing while creating your own unique quilt, 60 inches x 72 inches. This technique can be used as borders, the entire body of the quilt, or as parts of the blocks in your quilt. It is easier than it looks. All you need is 2 contrasting fabrics, a mat and a rotary, and a sense of adventure. This process has been around for years, and it is exciting and fun. You will soon be seeing curved piecing in all your future quilts.

  •          Sewing machine in good working order,
  •          extra bobbins prefilled,
  •          BSK,
  •          mat,
  •          6 inches x 12 inch ruler, any brand will work,
  •          Rotary cutter, with NEW blade,
  •          several gallon sized plastic bags.
  •          Yellow headed pins for pinning blocks together.
  •          (20) fabrics in an assortment of light, medium and dark values. Choose vivid prints, pastels, checks, stripes, Kaffe or tone on tone fabrics. These all work well together.

o   Cut (1) 6" by Width of fabric from each.

o   Cut (2) 9 in strips parallel to the selvage 65" of light and dark.

o   You may use 2 shorter pieces and piece your strips to equal the 65".
