>This year there are eight classes for the adult portion of the competition.
>There are no separate categories for pieced, modern, applique, etc.
>All quilts in a class will be judged against the other quilts in that class and prizes will be awarded in proportion to the entries in the class.
They are:
Freshman – To encourage: Those entering a major (75+ quilts) quilt show for the 1st time OR
Those with 10 or less years of quilting AND 4 or less Award Points (as listed below.)
Sophomore – To promote: Those with 11-20 years of quilting AND 4 or less Award Points (as listed below.)
Junior – To Preserve: Those with 20+ years of quilting AND 4 or less Award Points (as listed below.)
Senior Champions – To inspire: 5 or more Award PointsAWARD POINTS: Based on Quilt Shows of 75+
Give 1 Award Point for each award
Award of Excellence in Class or Category
2nd or 3rd Place in Class or Category
Best of Show in the State Fair (Regular blue ribbons are not counted)
Give 2 Award Points for each award
Best of Class or Category
1st Place in Class or Category
Best of Show
Juried into National Show
Fairness Clause: If you have years of experience in an area related to quilting, please bump yourself up a class if your skill level indicates you should.
Experience may include but is not limited to: sewing experience without quilting, quilt shop ownership, pattern production, professional quilting and teaching
This is an honor system. It is always okay to enter a more experienced class than the chart indicates.
The Co-chairmen of the Quilt Show have the final say on which class a quilt is entered and may change the class that was entered to another as needed to allow all classes to participate.
2024 UQG Competition and Display Quilts
This year we will have eight levels within the adult competitions for the categories as listed above. We will also have a Group (3 or more) and 1 Youth Quilt Category – 18 years and younger. The first 100 quilters submitting quilts for the challenge or quilt show will receive a gift.
Quilt Entry Timelines/Deadlines:
Challenge/Quilt Show entry form deadline: Midnight, July 27, 2024
Drop off quilts at selected area shops: July 22 - August 3, 2024
Drop off quilts to Rebecca Tesch or Peggy Gillie: July 22 - August 9, 2024
Quilt Show Judging: Monday, August 19, 2024
Quilt Show dates: August 21 - 24, 2024: Wed, Thurs, Fri hours are 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-2:30pm
Quilts available for pickup: August 24, 2024 late afternoon after 4:00 PM – No quilts will be delivered.
*Please note: No quilts will be accepted on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Checklist for Entering a Quilt in the Quilt Show
- Read the quilt show rules (click here)
- Send your entry form to the utahquiltguild.org by midnight, July 27, 2024. If you are submitting electronically, you may want to retain a copy of your entry form.
- Have your quilt completed, with a proper sleeve and label (click here for instructions).
- When delivering your quilt, make sure that your quilt is in a paper or plastic bag, and your name and the name of your quilt is legible from the outside of the bag. You will NOT get back the same bag that you delivered your quilt in.

Deliver your quilt(s) to selected shops between July 22 - August 3, 2024 (shops will be identified in the May and June Beeline), or you can mail or deliver your quilts between July 22 - August 9 to: Rebecca Tesch, 14808 S. Remember – the quilt show will end on Saturday, August 24, 2024. You may pick up your quilt later that afternoon (after 4:00 PM) at the entrance to the Quilt Show from the lobby hall. Please bring identification with you to pick up your quilt.
To enter the 2024 UQG Quilt Show at Quilt Fest
Entry Paperwork: All entry paperwork and a photograph of the quilt must reach the Quilt Show Coordinator by midnight July 27, 2024. The easiest way to enter is online at the bottom of this page.
* Put your Quilt Entry in the Cart and pay the entry fee if you have 2 total quilts entered, judged and/or display only.
- Log on to the site and then click on the “Quilt Show” link on the Quilt Fest page of the website. Add to cart button should appear.
- Pay for the entry and a link to the “Entry Form” will pop up – or you may use the entry form below
- Fill out the form, type in your quilt story and click “Submit”. Your quilt will be entered in the show. You will receive an email receipt. If you don’t, please email Peggy at maggie1891@gmail.com so she can confirm that your entry is complete. Be sure to follow the directions to pay by credit card, or mail your check, made out to Utah Quilt Guild to Peggy Gillie 651 S. Clearwater Falls Dr., Layton, Utah 84041
Entry Drop Off Instructions:

- If you need additional drop-off help, contact your UQG Area Representative Contact information is in the Beeline and online at utahquiltguild.org. Your Area Representative may be able to help deliver your entry. Please make arrangements ahead of the deadline with them.
Awards Presentation: The awards will be presented on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the Evening Opening. The Quilt Show will be open August 21 - 24, 2024. Wed, Thurs, Fri hours are 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-2:30pm. The Viewer’s Choice awards will be presented on Saturday, August 24, 2024 during the UQG Business Meeting.
Entry Pick-up: The Quilt Show will end at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Quilts will be available for pick-up at approximately 4:00 p.m. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate the early release of any quilts. To prove ownership, please have identification or your entry form ready.
