RemoteFest 2021

While all class members will work with the same block design, each person will be given different directions on color, value, contrast, and fabric placement to be used in their block as they sew. All fabrics are brought to the class as 3" squares and are put into a "scrap pool", upping the scrappy fun of the completed blocks immensely! Participants will be taught the importance of value and creativity when choosing block fabrics, and in the end will be amazed by how one block can be transformed into so many different looks simply with fabric choices and placements. If time permits, participants will make a second scrappy block with no given "map" of color, value, contrast, etc, - just their own scrap interpretations!

The Deco Quilt-- is a quilt that is inspired by the Art Deco style of design from the early 20th century. It utilizes a lot of geometric design and color placement making each design look different from the next. It is a design that is beautiful in neutral colors, an ombre look, a light background with dark or bright colors, or a dark background with light colors. Every variation seems to be striking and since the piecing is with squares and rectangles, beginners and advanced quilters will find it fun. It works wonderfully as a two-color quilt and the design almost mimics a sheet of music the way the shapes dance along in a rhythm.

If you have it in your heart, we'd really appreciate batting also. Our largest quilts are often twin size, so twin or lap sizes would be greatly appreciated. Peggy Gillie (734-775-8700)
