Class Description – Whether making just a pillow top or an entire quilt, Loopy Tulips is a fun project to introduce you to the joys of handwork. We will focus on the basic aspects of appliqué: stems, inside and outside points, and gentle curves using the freezer-paper-on-the-bottom method of appliqué. We will also explore color placement as a way to add a secondary level of design.

Class Supply List –

• Basting thread (any thread that you want to get rid of)
• Basting Needle (an embroidery needle works well)
• Applique needles (Straw needle, size 11, Foxglove Cottage recommended) *
• Black or navy silk thread (YLI 100 weight) *
• Beige silk thread (YLI 100 weight) *
• Paper and fabric scissors
• Embroidery scissors (optional)
• Pencil
• Tweezers (optional)

• 1 yard each of 2 or more fabrics for stems
• ½ yard total of 3 to 20 fabrics for tulips 
• Scraps of 2 or more fabrics for tulip centers
• ½ yard total of 3 to 15 fabrics for leaves (Note: For best results, choose fabrics of varying values.)
• 5 yards fabric for the center background
• 3 yards fabric for the border background
• 1 ½ yards fabric for the dogtooth border
