402-22: 402-22 Free-Motion Doodle Quilting - Amy Robertson

Class Description:  Are you ready to experience the joy of free-motion doodle quilting?  In this class, you will learn over twenty beginning-to-intermediate free-motion doodle designs.  We’ll start with simple lines, transition to a Greek key, slide into a loopy meander, and then keep going with pebbling, swirls, stippling, wishbones, basic feathers and so much more!

First, we will get comfortable with each design by learning how to doodle it on paper.  Once you’ve become familiar with the design, we’ll take it to your domestic machine and get some practice stitching it out on a quilt sandwich.  By the end of class, you’ll be combining the designs you’ve learned to create your own improv., free-motion fillers.

Not only that, but you can extend the fun and the learning of Quilt Fest by signing up for a free, 31-day doodle challenge on the day of class.

This class is taught by one of the authors of the books, Doodle School: A Daily Design Challenge to Up Your Free-Motion Quilting Game, and Doodle Notebook for Free-Motion Quilting: 150+ Inspirational Motifs.  When you take the in-person class, you will also have an opportunity to sign up for the doodle challenge that inspired the books!

(The 31-day doodle challenge is one of the best ways to start a continuous-line doodle practice and continuous-line doodling is one of the best ways to jumpstart and improve your free-motion quilting skills.  If you decide to participate in the challenge, you will get a value-packed email every day for 31 days.  Each email will introduce you to a doodle prompt to explore, along with inspirational videos and blog posts to help get you started and keep you inspired.  At the end of the challenge, Amy will host a live Zoom Q&A that will include a prize drawing for everyone who participates.

Think about it!  You not only get a fantastic skill-building experience at Quilt Fest, you can also join a challenge that will help you keep creating and exploring the world of doodle-quilting long after we’ve said our sad, Quilt Fest goodbyes. This class, and the challenge that follows, will give you the tools and inspiration to get to work on all those beautiful doodle quilts you’ve been dreaming about.

*Amy will have copies of the books available for purchase at a 10% discount on the day of class.  You do not need to purchase the books in order to participate in this class or the 31-day challenge.)
