Description:  Paper piecing pattern to recreate an antique 1890s Cheddar House quilt in my collection (photos 2-4). All the paper patterns and instructions needed to reproduce the quilt in miniature, 6 inch blocks are included along with fabric requirements and photos of the reproduction and antique inspiration. Finished size: 24" x 31.5", Batik Houses finishes at 36” square

Supply List:  Sewing machine in good order, threaded w/neutral thread, Basic sewing kit (paper and fabric scissors, pins, pencil, note paper, etc.), Rotary cutting kit (cutter, mat, rulers -6"square is good size)

Cheddar Houses  Finished size: 24 W X 31.5 H

Fabric: Houses-  24 fabrics - 10” squares, fat eights, or 2.5” strips, 2 different fabrics used for each block (house/background)  I used the following (some houses/grounds have high contrast, others are similar value)

-6 Light -white/beige/tan (small prints, stripe), -3 Green (small prints/floral), -3 Blue (small/medium prints), -3 Black (small/medium prints), -3 Red (small prints/floral), -2 Brown (small print/floral), -4 Orange/cheddar (small prints, stripe)

Not needed in class - Cheddar solid- sashing/border/binding – 1 yard, (try Kona School Bus or Moda Bella Cheddar), Neutral backing fabric – 1 yard, Batting (36” square)

Batik Houses  Finished size: 36" W X 36" H

Fabric: 16 Houses and triangle border -  20 fabrics* -  fat quarters of each, (2 different fabrics used for each block (house/background), some repeated in houses and borders)     I used the following (some houses/grounds have high contrast, others are similar value) , *20 different blue batiks from very light (almost white) to very dark (almost black).

Not needed in class -- Black and white print - sashing and border triangles – 1 yard, Dark blue or black batik - binding 1/2 yard, Neutral backing fabric – 1 yard, Batting (42” square)
