211  Featherweight Maintenance – Leanna Stauffer

Description:  Do you have a Singer Featherweight that you haven’t used in a while (bought one and don’t know anything about it)? Or you have used it but have not done any maintenance (or given it any TLC)?! This is the class for you! You will learn all about your featherweight when we take it apart, clean it and put on any new parts (machine and controller feet, new LED bulb etc.). You will also learn about oiling points and lube and what goes where! These are awesome little machines and sew fantastic stitches (I do all my piecing on mine!) This is a hands-on learning class so prepare to get your hands dirty. Machine must be in working order. If it is not – please contact me in advance!

Supply List:  Featherweight machine (in working order) with manual – if manual isn’t available, I will have extras Apron to protect clothes or wear old clothes!! Bobbins, thread, scissors, new needle(s) sharpie marker Screwdriver with assorted flathead bits Sewing machine oil Flashlight/tabletop light (Ott lite works great) and/or LED “headlamp” Towel (light colored preferable) that you don’t mind getting greasy and dirty Rags – cotton, flannel, old t-shirts. Canned air (I will have extra), Chisel tip tweezers, Scrap fabric to be used for testing tension/stitching – not too small!! Any accessories etc. that you have to go with the machine. Latex type gloves if you prefer not to get your hands dirty! Instructor will provide: Kerosene, plastic tubing to remove old light bulbs, Dremel tool and brushes, metal polish, wax and polishes used for final cleaning and polishing of machine, black kiwi polish, black shoe polish and brush, cleaning wipes (Lysol or Clorox cleaner type), ultrasonic cleaner, glue as needed (for case)

Kit: Miscellaneous disposable supplies used in class for cleaning etc.   Maintenance manual that we will be using in class can be purchased for $10.00
