Description: Learn the basics of machine quilting with your walking foot and get started on that pile of quilt tops waiting to be finished! Come and spend the day learning a myriad of techniques and quilting designs, all done with your walking foot. These techniques, along with the straight lines and/or gentle curves of the designs, will allow you to have immediate success with your machine quilting!

Supply List: Sewing machine, in good working order, cleaned and oiled with walking foot; (Please be thoroughly familiar with the operation of your sewing machine prior to class!)
Extension table for your machine (if you have one); Instruction manual for your machine; Extra sewing machine needles; Threads - a variety of colors, weights and types, including some decorative threads, variegated and basic cotton, polyester or cotton/poly blend; Marking pens, pencils or chalk that will show up on your samples; Basic sewing supplies (seam ripper, scissors, etc.);
Masking tape or blue painter’s tape; Small ruler (sewing gauge or 1” x 6” clear ruler) and 6” x 24” ruler (or similar size); Quilt basting safety pins (1” size); Practice pieces - 4 or 5 practice “tops” - 12” x 12” to 18” x 18”, or similar sized based on whatever you have on hand. The “tops” should be solids or light in color (so the quilting will show up), with at least one “top” that is a simple pieced block (like a nine patch) or an orphan block. Batting – options include all cotton, 80/20 blend, wool, low-loft (batting pieces and scraps work well). The “backs” can be any cotton fabric that you have on hand.
